Reximex NYX vs NYX Compact: Which .22 PCP Rifle Suits You?
Share
The Reximex NYX and NYX Compact are regulated, sidelever PCP air rifles. In the .22 versions compared here, the clearest buying differences are weight, barrel length and air capacity. The Compact is the lighter option; the standard NYX carries a larger air bottle.
This guide compares the NYX .22 (PY-6652-14081) with the NYX Compact .22 (PY-6569-13818). It uses published specifications rather than a hands-on accuracy test.
The quick choice
- Consider the NYX Compact if reducing the weight you carry and choosing a shorter barrel are your priorities.
- Consider the standard NYX if you prefer its longer barrel and larger air reservoir, and are comfortable with the extra weight.
Do not choose the standard rifle simply because you expect a higher advertised velocity: both of these .22 models are listed at up to 900 FPS. Handling and air capacity are more useful distinctions between them.
NYX and NYX Compact .22 compared
| Feature | NYX .22 | NYX Compact .22 |
|---|---|---|
| Action / powerplant | Sidelever, regulated PCP | Sidelever, regulated PCP |
| Listed rifle weight | About 9.8 lb | About 7.7 lb |
| Barrel length | 18.8 inches | 14.96 inches |
| Air reservoir capacity | 500 cc | 425 cc |
| Magazine capacity in .22 | 12 pellets | 12 pellets |
| Maximum fill pressure | 250 bar | 250 bar |
| Stock | Telescoping, adjustable cheek rest | Telescoping, adjustable cheek rest |
The quoted maximum velocity uses 18.13-grain JSB pellets. Actual results depend on the pellet, settings and conditions. A longer barrel is not a guarantee of better accuracy, and a larger bottle is not a fixed promise of shots between fills.
What to budget for besides the rifle
Both are precharged pneumatic rifles, so plan for a suitable external high-pressure air source. A compatible PCP hand pump, compressor or charging setup needs to match the rifle's filling requirements; an ordinary tire pump is not a substitute.
Both listings specify a Picatinny optics rail and no open sights. Plan for suitable sighting equipment and mounts unless the exact package you select explicitly includes them. The listed packages include two magazines and a female Foster quick-disconnect fill adapter; the adapter is not an air source.
Compare the complete setup, including air supply, sighting equipment, pellets and delivered price. If you already own equipment, check its compatibility before ordering rather than assuming that every fitting or mount will work.
Check the exact model before ordering
NYX Compact and Throne Gen2 Compact are different models. Match the full model name and caliber when selecting a rifle or spare part. This comparison does not establish that magazines, bottles or other parts interchange between models.
